• Holiday entitlement - how do you manage this?

    I am interested to know from others within the manufacturing sector how they treat holidays - do you differentiate between office and shop floor or production/shift personnel.

    How many of you offer half days instead of whole days and do any offer holiday entitlement in terms of hours per annum and if you do - do you offer this to all staff or just certain functions

  • Hi @Jane High , we are a manufacturing company and both office and shopfloor staff receive the same holiday entitlement - basic 20 upto 25 days (1 per year service). We record our holiday entitlement on our time and attendance system in hours. We allow employees to take minimum 15 minutes if they wish.

  • Hi @Jane High we are a contract electrical manufacturer and both our shop floor and office staff receive the same holiday entitlement. All start on 25 days and increase by 1 day per full calendar year worked to a maximum of 28 days plus Bank Holidays. The minimum we allow them to take is half a day. They also reserve a portion of holidays for Christmas shutdown.
