• Invitation to influence implementation of T Level industry placements

    Hello,

As you will be aware, the latest change to the vocational education landscape is the introduction of T Levels. T Levels are being introduced as an alternative to A Levels. They would be two year, classroom-based programmes, and act as a stepping stone onto further study or employment. More details on what T Levels are can be found on our latest blog.

A significant component of T Level programme is the industry placement that a T Level student must undertake during the 2 years. The industry placement must be at least 45 days long, carried out in a workplace setting, and be designed to give students the opportunity to apply their technical knowledge in practice.

The Department for Education has recognised that delivering the industry placement will be challenging for employers. EEF is, therefore, seeking members views on how best industry placements can be delivered in our industry.

We would like to invite you to a focus group at EEF’s Technology Hub, to share your thoughts on the challenges of the current industry placement design, and your views on our alternative design.

We intend on capturing your thoughts, feeding them back to the Department for Education and influencing the design of industry placements.

Details of the focus group as follows:

    Date: 1st August 2018
    Time: 10-12.30pm with lunch
Venue: EEF Technology Hub, Nobel Way, Birmingham B6 7EP

If you cannot attend but would like to contribute to the discussion, please send your thoughts or dates for a telephone discussion to the Bhavina Bharkhada (email address below).

Please email bbharkhada@eef.org.uk to confirm your place or if you have any queries.
