  • Hello All,
I'm Robin Cairns, a technology entrepreneur. In my career I have developed several world first’s some with patents filed including,
    - a battery powered solid state memory module, (what we know now as a memory stick) that’s was used to record data from remote weather stations.
    - an electronic means of recording temperatures throughout refrigerated road and rail containers of chilled and frozen foods for Christian Salvesen and Marks and Spencer that reduced the rejection rates when arriving into supermarket stores. Now a legal requirement on all trucks.
    - a collaborative project to develop a portable profiling system that records humidity at temperatures of up to +400°C for United Biscuits, McVities biscuit ovens that showed them how to better control the biscuit height, moisture content and crispness and in bread production, the colour and crust.
    - a non-contact and non-invasive means of measuring packaged frozen and chilled foods including frozen burgers for fast food chains, ready meals, sandwiches, and soups, without using a contact thermometer that saved hundreds of products being thrown away each week.

I have recently set up Industrial Technologies Ltd that will innovate, incubate, and develop new technologies in a variety of B2B sectors. The first is an automated means of measuring the core temperature of cooked meats as part of HACCP as they exit steam cookers and ovens which will remove the need for a person to manually carry out this risky procedure typically every 30-60 minutes.
